Who We Are
The
Ulverston and Furness Vineyard is a Christian church based in Ulverston,
Cumbria, UK, serving not only the town of Ulverston but also the
Furness peninsula.
What Kind of People Are We?
- We are Christian: what we believe and what we do are based on
the Bible.
- We are not a cult: we enjoy good relationships with other Christian
churches.
- We try to be friendly, welcoming, relaxed and informal.
- We are ordinary people from all walks of life: not cranks, weirdos
or religious maniacs.
- We welcome people of all ages, races and backgrounds.
Where We Have Come From and Where We Are Going
The Ulverston and Furness Vineyard was planted out of Glasgow
Central Fellowship in 2002.
Beginning as a house group we have steadily grown, and continue
to trust God for His growth.
We have a vision to see other Vineyard churches planted out across
Cumbria, the North West and overseas as part of our missions vision.
As a Vineyard, the church is committed to the core values of the
movement — intimate worship, small groups, the Bible taught
as the standard for living, evangelism, ministry to the poor, the
use of spiritual gifts, signs and wonders, training and equipping,
mission and church planting, and interaction with and love for other
churches.
The past twenty-five years have seen the growth of over 1000 Vineyard
churches across 40 countries worldwide. The Ulverston and Furness
Vineyard is one of the many Vineyard Churches in the UK, overseen
by Vineyard
Churches UK. The Vineyard
Music Group continues to promote the distinctive and inspiring
worship songs with which the Vineyard has become synonymous.
What Defines Our Church
Vineyard churches have a "DNA" that makes them distinctive,
but are free to express that in a unique, local context.
To help us define how our church should function we have agreed
some statements of What matters to
us:
